An old wise woman said, “You can count your pennies, or you can count your blessings, but only blessings can exceed their measure." When we feel grateful, our eyes see cups half full and moons on a string. In the magic of thankfulness, roads rise up to meet us, stumbling blocks become stepping stones, and difficulties reveal their hidden gifts. During times of shifting sands, all things are giving us possibilities for change and innovation, as well as opportunities to appreciate and better utilize the riches and resources we already have. As we gather this Thanksgiving to share food, family and friendship, let us be grateful for not only what fills our bellies, but especially for the togetherness that fills our hearts beyond the measure of a meal.
